Roland, the CEO of Alford Technologies has been involved in the explosives industry since he was a boy gaining a uniquely intuitive understanding of how and when explosives can be used and developing an inquisitive and creative approach to problem solving under the tutelage of his father and company founder the late the late Dr Sidney Alford. This has enabled him to invent and design patented explosive tools and methods including for EOD and explosive demolition. Roland is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of IMechE, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and in 2019 was elected as one of the first 4 Fellows of the Institution of Royal Engineers without prior Royal Engineers service. He is currently undertaking PhD research into the tamping effect on explosive charges.
