Before joining the mine action sector, David served in Royal Navy surface ships and submarines. Working in mine action for over 30 years he conducted practical clearance and established and managed field programmes in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Mozambique and Angola. In 1995 he founded a commercial demining company employing more than 3,000 globally dispersed staff. A founder and director of Fenix Insight Ltd for the past 10 years David has drafted International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) including those for Risk Management. He engages in technical field operations as well as wider governmental and institutional advisory work and has a degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering.
