Cliff served in the British Army Royal Engineers for 23 years of which 17 years was spent in EOD and Search units. A qualified Advanced EOD Operator, IEDD Operator, Royal Engineer Search Advisor and Mines Awareness Instructor on retirement from military service in 2001 Cliff entered the EOD and Search commercial sector and is currently the Managing Director of Guartel Technologies Ltd which designs and manufactures specialist EOD and Search detectors. Cliff also owns and operates EOD UK Ltd providers of EOD and Search training, consultancy and equipment and has designed and delivered courses in The Netherlands, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Nigeria; and assisted in the establishment of a search training school in The Netherlands. A member of the Executive Committee of Counter EO UK, an industry special interest group, Chair of the Royal Engineers Association Bomb Disposal Branch he is also the EOD and Search specialist advisor to The Friends of the Royal Engineers Museum.
